very good
i almost got it but one problem
the psd files you got for download
they can’t open in photoshop saying that i don’t have enough RAM
so how much do i need?
i tried it in gimp too, but the colors are sorta messed up
the button is green
when i try making it white, it turns orange!
and i can’t seem to make it black
any suggestions?

Looks like you have old version of Photoshop. These files are for the Adobe Photoshop CS2. I save 5th button (orange) to TIFF. Please download it and tell me it would be OK for you. Then I’ll save others as TIFF.
Thanks!

but no it still own’t work
i comes up with the same message
o well, it’s not too much of a biggie
i managed to make a button from your easy instructions

time to go upgrade photoshop somehow

I learned of your button tutorial on the Net at Nite podcast with Amber McAuthor and Leo LaPort. Thanks for sharing the process. I’m anxious to use it on my blog.
I was able to successfully download the psd file into Photoshop Elements 4. Everything worked fine. I changed the text to meet my needs and tried to past the button into my blog. That worked, however, paste also include a large white area around the button. What do I need to do to transfer only the image of the button but not the white background. (It’s easy to spot a Photoshop nooby isn’t it.)
Again thanks for the great tutorial and your help with this matter.

Hi Steve! White area around the button is controlled with property “matte” in “Save for Web” dialog. You can set it to “None”, but I highly recommend to use background color of area where would be the button placed.

I am new to Photoshop, your buttons are great, but they are kind of big. How to resize them to normal button size 15 on 80 inches??
Thank you!

It is really a worth apperciating work that you have performed. I have seen many tutorials site but i think no one shares the creativity as you have done. The way these buttons are displayed is excellent. Good luck for future work.

How do you edit the text on your templates? In Photoshop CS it is just appearing as one locked background image with no layers – so I can’t actually alter anything it would seem?

unable to download photoshop format…. file source…
why so?//

Thanks, hombré. I had made other buttons that were OK, but yours were “cream-o-da-crop”.
Worked great in gimp 2.4.7 on fedora 9.
THANK YOU! =)

Wow! Absolutely awesome. There’s a reason you are number one in Google for the phrase “how to create shiny buttons photoshop”
I started going through the tutorial then noticed you had the source files included. I had found exactly what I needed within barely a minute. Made a couple of modifications and now my shiny new button is on my site (not the site I used in this comment FYI).
Thank you so much. This is an excellent tutorial.
Cheers
Dave.

web 2.0 buttons ?! do you know what web 2.0 is? hint… it has nothing to do with design or visual properties whatsoever… so there cannot be any web 2.0 buttons.
